Welcome to our classes “Technology in the Classroom” blog. I have set up this blog with a hope that you will all be inspired to help support your child’s class and the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) in their efforts to raise money in order to purchase some new and innovative technology that will help me help your children enjoy learning even more.
Please get involved and help the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) with their upcoming fundraiser.

Concerns
I understand some may be concerned about using technology in the classroom because you may feel that your child spends too much time on the computer at home playing games. Be assured that even though your children will be using computers and technology at school, each lesson or activity that I will be conducting will have a specific purpose and will be used to enhance their learning objectives.

How with this new technology be used in the classroom?
I plan on using the SMART board and the corresponding response system to engage children in learning and to help improve learning outcomes in the academic areas of reading, math, and science. Part of the third grade curriculum is to learn about the solar system. If I had the SMART board I would be able to show the whole class the NASA website and explore all that they have to offer. Using the SMART response interactive system I could then engage the children in a question and answer session where the questions show up on the board and using the SMART response interactive system the children would be able to answer the question. We as a class would have the results instantly I would be able to instantly gauge how much information the children have retained based on the results of the poll. The possibilities are endless in how I could use this technology in my classroom to help support and guide the children in the learning process.

I encourage each and everyone to get involved with the PTA’s fundraiser so that it can be a success and allow our class to have these new and innovative tools in our classroom and put your child on the road to higher academic achievement. If you have any questions or comments about our upcoming fundraiser or about the technology we wish to purchase, please post them here on this blog. I look forward to reading them.
